Counselor's Corner

Welcome back!

Seniors are talking about colleges and applications. We plan to take them to a college fair this fall to talk with admissions representatives. If they need to visit a school, they should see Mrs. Edwards to schedule a visit soon.

The SAT will be given at JMA on October 6th, December 1st , January 26th and May 3rd. The deadline to register without a late fee for the October test is September 10th. Please go to www.collegeboard.com to register. The JMA high school code is 112101. If you have questions, come and see me. Be sure and send your scores to the colleges where you plan to apply.

The ACT will be given at BHS on September 15th, October 27th, February 9th and April 12th. Register at www.act.org. Our high school code is 112101 for this also.

The PSAT will be given to grades 9-11 on Wednesday,October 17th during the school day.
HOPE UPDATE: The HOPE Scholarship will be given to students who have a 3.0 average in all the math, science, social science. English, and Spanish taken during their 9th - 12th grade years. Every A goes down as a 4.0, a B is a 3.0 and a C is a 2.0. An F goes in as a 0. Therefore, if you make a year-end C in a class, you must have an A to balance it out. Also, grades will be sent to the Georgia Student Finance Commission to determine the average. Ninth and tenth grade grades are just as important and junior and senior year grades.

Remember to go to www.GAcollege411.com and use the site. It has SAT and ACT prep there also.
