Ray Tolley Scholarship  Ray Tolley

This memorial award was established by the Tolley family for their son, Ray, who was killed in a car accident at the age of 45. Ray Tolley was a ’79 graduate of JMA.  He was a member of the Beta Club and lettered in Varsity football and track. Ray was voted Best Personality by his Senior Class and was an all-around great guy with a great attitude about life. Using knowledge and skills acquired at JMA, Ray had a successful career in restaurant management and, later, in cabinet manufacturing.

Each year the family honors a graduating Senior who embodies the Sportsmanship and academic characteristics of Ray Tolley.

Dianne Bayne Scholarship

Mrs. Dianne Bayne was a pillar of the John Milledge Academy community. As an alum, parent, grandparent, and employee, she wanted each student to experience what was best about our school. She was always the most enthusiastic cheerleader for any program or event; she was blue and gold through and through. With the sudden and tragic loss of Mrs. Bayne in December of 2019, the family wanted to honor her memory, her kindness and her overall love of all things John Milledge through this scholarship program.

Be Like Bayne: be kind, be thoughtful, be loving, be supportive, be untiring, be loyal, be quick to laugh and be patient.

Friends and family of Ross Stillwell keep his memory alive through this award. They honor a graduating Senior who embodies some of the strong character and academic qualities Ross Stillwell represented.

Hal B. Haynes Scholarship

Hal B. HaynesMr. Hal B. Haynes blessed all of those around him with a sincere smile, fun-loving spirit, and a giving nature. He taught and coached soccer at John Milledge Academy for many years, where he built a successful soccer program and led his teams to win state championships in 2010 and 2011. With his love and respect for people and JMA, Coach Haynes provided an example of integrity and strong Christian values. His efforts to push others to reach goals and his willingness to help touched many lives.

In February 2021, Coach Haynes passed away, but we want his spirit of encouragement to live on. In loving memory of Mr. Hal Bruce Haynes and to honor his desire to help students reach their life goals, the Haynes family provides an annual scholarship to a deserving senior at JMA each year.

With a servant’s heart, Coach Haynes enjoyed helping and watching others grow and prosper spiritually. He supported the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and respected the values it promotes. The FCA focus is to serve the local community by supporting and empowering coaches and athletes to unite and inspire change through the love of Christ.
